Laird Bailey Landscape Architects delivered a landscape and visual impact assessment and landscape design for Catalyst Bicester, Phase 2, in Oxfordshire. From our landscape architects in Oxfordshire, we ensured the development harmonised with the local character, securing approval from Cherwell District Council for Albion Land. Opened in autumn 2023, this project blends commercial units with parkland and wetland, showcasing ecological restoration and green infrastructure enhancement, akin to our work in South Wales and Somerset.

The Catalyst Bicester, Phase 2 project developed commercial units south of Bicester, integrated with parkland and a large wetland. Our landscape and visual impact assessment demonstrated minimal impact on the area’s character, supporting the reserved matters application. Collaborating with Tyler Grange ecologists, we prioritised biodiversity enhancement through ecological restoration, creating habitats for domestic and migratory birds.

Our landscape design balanced aesthetics and sustainability:

• Ecological Restoration: Designed a large wetland to enhance biodiversity, supporting diverse bird species.
• Green Infrastructure: Established tree-lined roads and amenity planting beds for visual appeal and connectivity.
• Sustainable Urban Drainage: Worked with engineers to implement sustainable urban drainage systems, managing runoff effectively.
• Landscape Planning: Developed formal parkland for employees and visitors, ensuring high visual amenity and screening from sensitive visual receptors.

Catalyst Bicester, Phase 2, is a model of sustainable landscaping, offering commercial functionality alongside ecological benefits.
